the last week

I can't believe next week will be my last week in EAP 1!  When Scott told us the news, I was socked, and then I was a little sad.  I felt like crying. ::><::
This is my first class in Calgary.  I made many new friends from different countries, and I learned something about other cultures.  It is fascinating that you know the thing that you have never heard but is common for someone.  On Heritage day, I tasted a variety of food, which made me so happy.
In addition, Scott is my first teacher in Calgary, who is very interesting and enthusiastic, and always makes us happy in classes.  My English teacher in high school doesn’t always smile and she is critical.  She was always in bad mood before important exams.  I don’t like her, so I also hate English.  Now I don’t hate English so much because Scott is so likable.  I still remember some anecdotes.  Here is an example:
In a grammar class, Scott taught us that must not put a comma in some sentences. Then he asked us seriously: "Do you know what will happen if you put a comma here?"  We shook our heads. " Do you know the little cute rabbit jumping in the campus?" We nodded. Scott cried:" One of them will die!!!" (. |||)

All in all, I like this class (but I don’t want to learn EAP 1 again), though I may meet my classmates in EAP 2, Scott won’t continue to teach us.         ( ╯0╰ ) I will remember this short class!

I can cook!

When I was a student in china, I had never cooked, because I don't need to do and I had no time to do.  Everyday when I get home, the meal was ready.  If I was in school, I can buy food in canteens.
But it is different now.  I live with my aunt who is always busy.  Sometimes my cousin and I should cook by ourselves in the weekends.  In addition, sometimes my aunt goes home a little late, and if I wait for her cooking I won't go to study linc on time.  Therefore, I have learnt a little about how to cook.  Now I can cook several dishes, for example rice fried with eggs, stir-fried cabbage, tomato fried with eggs, unleavened pancake, and noodles.
I don't usualy cook.  Once my noodles looked ugly, though it tasted not bad, my cousin refused to eat more.  However, they agree that my rice fried with eggs is good, both looks and tastes. \( ̄ ˇ )>
Step by step, I like to cook now. When I am at home alone, I may try something new, such as deep-fried rice pancake today. ╰()╭  It looked different from rice fried with eggs, but I used the same material, so my cousin said “You can only cook the rice fried with eggs!”//(T o T)//

heritage day

Yesterday, November 24th, is heritage day on which people bring their own food to share with each other.  I have been looking forward to it since our teacher told us last month.  You know why. (^ 0 ^)
In order to avoid getting up early and moving tables, I cook rice balls at home in the morning.  I got school about 11:45 with the food that is still warm. But it seemed that I was a little late, because some dishes are almost empty!  They had started eating before I arrived, so someone was already full.  As a result, nobody paid attention to my rice balls, and only three of them were eaten, which make me disappointed.
Then we EAP1 students took pictures shouting "cheese!”  Scott was so popular that everyone expected him to take part in his or her pictures.  While they were busy taking photos, I was busy eating.  However, I tried to taste every dish that looks good.  Some food is really delicious, but some is strange.     (><) When I spooned some green and strange substance that I can’t tell what it is, my friends came and asked me “Do you want to have a taste?  Are you sure?”  Then I became hesitant.  “That tastes terrible!  You will regret if you eat!” They said.  Finally, I gave up, but now, I’m a little bit regret, and I wondering how terrible it is?
What’s more, our teacher told us to mingle with others, which is a little hard.  We need their sign names on blue papers that were collected today for a lottery.  I found that the papers that were folded less had more chance to be pick out, because Scott took out five papers totally, and two of them hadn’t been folded, two were bolded once, one was bolded twice, but most of us bolded the papers twice.  En~~
I’ve never been in a real party before, and I was happy yesterday.  I hope there are many delicious parties in the future.  What’s more, I was so full that I didn’t need to eat dinner! (__∩)y

the little prince {Le Petit Prince}

I read <the little prince> when I was in high school because it is so famous.  I had heard it described a must-read book. Inspiring and beautiful, it was written in 1943 by French aviator Saint-Exupéry. Of course, their comments attracted me, so I want to know how fascinating and magic the book is.
Fortunately, the little prince didn't disappoint me.  Now it's one of my favorite books.  I like him as soon as he appeared while he was asking the pilot to draw a sheep for him.  The little prince is so pure, responsible, and lovely.  I also like the earnest fox. "tame"!  how beautiful it is!
In the end,  he was bit by a snake in order to go home.  The pilot has never seen him again ever since.
I believe the little prince has gone home.  But my friend insisted that he died, which make me sad.  However, I hope the little prince has gone home to take care of his rose!

"It is such a secret place, the land of tears."

“What makes the desert beautiful,” said the little prince, “is that somewhere it hides a well…”

"If some one loves a flower, of which just one single blossom grows in all the millions and millions of stars, it is enough to make him happy just to look at the stars. He can say to himself: 'Somewhere, my flower is there...' But if the sheep eats the flower, in one moment all his stars will be darkened...And you think that is not important!"

The pictures

"I showed my masterpiece to the grown-ups, and asked them whether the drawing frightened them.

But they answered: "Frighten? Why should any one be frightened by a hat?"
My drawing was not a picture of a hat. It was a picture of a boa constrictor digesting an elephant. But since the grown-ups were not able to understand it, I made another drawing: I drew the inside of the boa constrictor, so that the grown-ups could see it clearly. They always need to have things explained. My Drawing Number Two looked like this:

"Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is exhausting for children to have to provide explanations over and over again."

Grown-ups like numbers. When you tell them about a new friend, they never ask questions about what really matters. They never ask: "What does his voice sound like?" "What games does he like best?" "Does he collect butterflies?". They ask: "How old is he?" "How many brothers does he have?" "How much does he weigh?" "How much money does his father make?" Only then do they think they know him.

If you tell grown-ups, "I saw a beautiful red brick house, with geraniums at the windows and doves on the roof...," they won't be able to imagine such a house. You have to tell them, "I saw a house worth a hundred thousand francs." Then they exclaim, "What a pretty house!"

"All grown-ups were children first. (But few remember it). "

A Sheep

"If you please -- draw me a sheep!"
"What!"
"Draw me a sheep!"
Asteroid B-612

Sunsets

"One day," you said to me, "I saw the sunset forty-three times!"
And a little later you added:
"You know -- one loves the sunset, when one is so sad..."
"Were you so sad, then?" I asked, "on the day of the forty-four sunsets?"
But the little prince made no reply.

The rose

"I have been silly," she said to him, at last. "I ask your forgiveness. Try to be happy..."
"Of course I love you," the flower said to him. "It is my fault that you have not known it all the while. That is of no importance. But you -- you have been just as foolish as I. Try to be happy... let the glass globe be. I don't want it any more."
"Don't linger like this. You have decided to go away. Now go!"
For she did not want him to see her crying. She was such a proud flower...

The fox

"Come and play with me," proposed the little prince. "I am so unhappy."
"I cannot play with you," the fox said. "I am not tamed."
"What does that mean -- 'tame'?"
"It is an act too often neglected," said the fox. It means to establish ties."
"'To establish ties'?"
"Just that," said the fox. "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world..."
"I am beginning to understand," said the little prince. "There is a flower... I think that she has tamed me..."

The fox gazed at the little prince, for a very long time.
“Please! Tame me!” he said.
“I want to very much,” the little prince replied. “But I have not much time. I have friends to discover, and a great many things to understand.”
“One only understands the things that one tames,” said the fox. “Men have no more time to understand anything. They buy things all ready made at the shops. But there is no shop anywhere where one can buy friendship, and so men have no friends any more. If you want a friend, tame me…”

"But now you are going to cry!" said the little prince.
"Yes, that is so," said the fox.
"Then it has done you no good at all!"
"It has done me good," said the fox, "because of the color of the wheat fields." And then he added:
"Go and look again at the roses. You will understand now that yours is unique in all the world. Then come back to say goodbye to me, and I will make you a present of a secret."
"It is just as it is with the flower. If you love a flower that lives on a star, it is sweet to look at the sky at night. All the stars are a-bloom with flowers..."

“Goodbye,” said the fox. “And now here is my very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
“What is invisible is essential to the eye,” the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.
“It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.”
“It is the time I have wasted for my rose–” said the little prince, so that he would be sure to remember.
“Men have forgotten this truth,” said the fox. “But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.  You are responsible for your rose…”
“I am responsible for my rose,” the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.

that night i had a scary dream
i mixed my own secret potion

and a tiny dab of sun-tan-lotion

i started shaking, my legs were quaking!
my stomach aching, my brain was breaking!
i started turning green, feeling mean
it was like in that story
i was acting strange, quite daranged
it was pure alagory!

i said mister hyde has arrived,
tossed my flags on the floor
made a major speech,
told the teach this is all a big bore!
ran down all the halls, wrote on walls
even stole second base!
i was super bad, sure was glad

confusing...

Recentely I always wonders whether I should go on studying linc at ninght.  You know, I study in EAP class in the daytime from Monday to Thursday.  Meanwhile, I also go to the linc class from Monday to Thureday.  The class lasts two and a half hours, but I have to spend more than an hour on the bus.      (>﹏<Inaddition, I have learnt most of the knowledge that they teach because they use the same book as the EAP class!  Sometimes we just talk. I think half time maybe useless for me!  What's more, it will be 20:50 when I get home, so I can't sleep as early as I used to.  As a result, I gave up some EAP homework (like bloging) (^) or I would fall asleep the next day.
However, I could learn some new volcabulary and know something about Canada.  That’s pretty good.  I need to practice speaking English there, too.  BUT I can't pay attention to both of them now.

Frequently I must go when I just stayed at home for less than one hour.  I often eat dinner in a hurry, then run!
Oh~~~~I don’t know how could I do!!  Could you help me? (x__x)

my cousin's birthday party

October 6th is my cousin's birthday. But she couldn't celebrate it because it was Wednesday. So she decided to invite some friends to home on Saturday. Then our whole people prepared for the party. On Friday, we cleaned our home. I pick up too many hair on carpet and most of them were mine. And we cleaned our bed to make living room tidy. At night, we bought some snacks in superstore. In Saturday morning, my aunt made some fried noodles for us. And she didn't finished until 11:30a.m. Because my cousin told them to come at 10:30. So I was afraid the guests would come before we got ready. Fortunately, they were all late! Then my aunt and my parents went out to leave us enough room.
First of all, we ate some noodles and fruit with chocolate. Then they started to make up Susan who is always being tortured by them. What I did was watching the poor girl. They use the green eyeshadow to paint one of he eyes, and another eye was in black! When they finished their work, it looked like someone had hit here! And it took her almost a quarter to clean up! After that, we took many pictures in variety of poses. It is mentionable that my cousin had commanded her friends to come in skirts. And half of them followed her. At last, we watched a movie. In addition, I had blew seventeen balloons before,so when they were leaving, we trod down most of the balloons. And the rest are still there in our home.
